“The Counselor” seems to hold the recipe for a true critical and commercial hit: with a stellar cast, an award-winning director and a script based on a best-selling novel, it can’t possibly disappoint.

The first teaser trailer hints that it won’t. Check it out in full and in HD above.

“The Counselor” stars Michael Fassbender, Brad Pitt, Javier Bardem, Penelope Cruz, John Leguizamo and Cameron Diaz, is directed by Ridley Scott (“Alien,” “Prometheus”) and is based on a script inspired by a novel by Cormac McCarthy.

Fassbender plays lead, an attorney who thinks going into drugs for an extra buck would get him out of financial trouble. Instead, he finds himself in even more trouble when a business deal with two drug lords (Pitt and Bardem) goes sour.

Penelope Cruz plays his girlfriend, while Diaz is Bardem’s.

The film will be out on October 25.
