Before you head out for the skateboarding professional "slopes", you might want to try this. The Connectv Skateboarder is probably a good choice if you intend to learn what skateboarding is
about.
The snappily named ConnecTV Skateboarder is a game, skateboard and games console all-in-one. Here's how it works.
All you have to do is plug the mini skateboard into the audio and video jacks of your TV or VCRTV and start practicing flipping, jumping, rail-riding, grabbing and weaving your way around three different skate parks.
The interactive real wooden board incorporates a hand held remote that is used to control menu options and set up screens. The joystick allows you to control menu options and also your speed and perform the tricks you recently saw on the Extreme TV channel. But, the joystick is (unfortunately) string-attached and pretty simple, so don't even try telling your friends you got something like a Wii at home. It's far from it.
Here's the coolest part. You can even play this with your pal. Only 2 can play this game though. The two player mode, or skate race mode allows you and your pal to race against each other on an obstacle course. Using a combo of joystick buttons and board movements, you'll be able to make some great moves like grabs, grinds, flips and much more. You can also play against virtual competitors in tournaments. Right. Finally, you can skate on half pipes, ramps or avoid obstacles (and also school).
Here are some technical specs:
-Virtual plug 'n' play skateboard
-7 plywood mini skateboarding
-Requires 4XAA Batteries (not included)
-Size: 44 x 18 x6cm
Of course, this means you can't show off your nasty falls or scary scars to your pals. At least you can do some grinds when you're grounded.
You can get it for 40 UK pounds.
