Hair driers have been around for quite some time now. We're sure that few of you know that the hair drier was invented in the 19th century by Alexandre F. Godefoy, and had a rather primitive design, with little (in fact – none) portability whatsoever. Sometime during the 20's, this very helpful gadget was redesigned and came close to the handheld functionality it boasts today. Well, since that period, very little has changed in this field, save for some rather minor adjustments to the shape, now running in a smoother and fluid line and sporting a better size-to-power ratio, thanks to improved electric motors. These days, we must praise Hoang M. Nguyen, a designer who has dared take the next step in hair drier design and has created the Comet.
The first striking thing about the Comet Hair Drier is its most unusual, spherical shape. In fact, we could hardly believe that we were looking at a hair drier when we encountered this contraption for the very first time.
This spherical gadget is the result of a truly outside-the-box approach to this – let's admit it – dull area. Nevertheless, the result is tremendously spectacular, as it looks like nothing of its kind released so far. Despite the minimalist design and ultra-compact construction, the Comet Hair Drier comes loaded with both looks and brawn: it sports advanced materials and technologies, and it's loaded with a variable speed motor driving a dual-blade fan, which will give you quite a blow.
But there is more to the Comet Hair Drier than meets the eye. Remember how inconvenient was to stop drying your hair as you had to move around the house? Well, the Comet will set you free and allow you to even walk around your entire home if you like to. Because this hair drier is powered by a rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery, you no longer have to sit on your bedside while drying, or remain stuck to one place. Even more, a pressure-sensitive power on/off button will let you adjust the force of the hot air as you like.
Finally, in order to keep the recharging of the Comet in the same neat and smooth zone, Hoang M. Nguyen went for a very modern solution: induction. The charging piece is connected to the wall socket and will smoothly attach to the main body of the Comet in a natural and very stylish manner: have your drier recharged and then you're ready to go! So far, the Comet Hair Drier has been in a project phase, but we'd really love to see this uber-cool gadget in stores as soon as possible.
