Well, this is definitely not the type of tournament your parents want to hear you're taking part in and Jack Thompson might come there holding a "Kill Video Games" banner but you
would see nothing wrong in joining it, right? Well... here's the tip: iGames is holding a two day competition at 16 game centers and it's offering more than 3,400 bucks in cash prizes. Entry fee? None. Zero. Nada. Totally free, dude!

If you ever seen some 1980-something movie flicks where one guy was released in the forest and hunted for fun (and usually that bad fella turned into the hunter at some point), you kind of know what the club is about. You start in point A and have to get to point B while killing people along the way just for fun... uhm... points. Easy as that, no game story, no love story, nothing else. Just the good ol' shoot-kill-reload thingie. And now this gets a real life tournament.

So... as we said, all the matches will be free for all on game mode Score Match. Score Match uses the game's unique method for tabulating points based on many factors including kills, aim and combos. Each of the participating 16 iGames centers will host a "local" tournament on the 15th of March, with matches consisting of between 4 and 8 players, with each player emptying its clip in 5 different environments.

Players will earn points based on their order of finish in each match (5 for the winner, 3 for the runner up and 1 for the third placed) and the top two players will get $100 and $50 and the chance to return the next day to compete against the other local winners for the big prize. Here's how the second phase will look like:

Round 1: Up to 48 Players, Score Match, on Venice
Round 2: 32 Players, Score Match, on Ocean Liner
Round 3: 16 Players, Score Match, on Warehouse
Round 4: 8 Players, Score Match, on Bunker
Round 5: 4 Players, Score Match, on Warzone

Finally, the all-round champion will win $250, followed by $175 for the 2nd place, $100 for the 3rd, $75 for the 4th, $50 for 5-8 places and $25 for 9-16. Then everybody will go home, happy, and play for pleasure. Parents will be angry, Jack Thompson will ask for a ban and GTA IV will be 2 days closer.

Let's do a Red Faction tournament. Solo Shoot-em up and Tag-team Shoot-em up. For summer 2009.
