The $125 million remake of TV hit starring Don Johnson gets very bad reviews from its public testing. After spending huge sums of money and in spite of all the editing done by the director, Collin Farrell and Jamie Foxx are unable to recreate for the big screen the atmosphere from the original 'Miami Vice'.
The reported production sum (that doesn't include promotion, advertisement and maintenance of such huge and pretentious Hollywood stars like Farrel and Foxx) apparently does not even come close to reality.
A source from inside Universal Pictures told columnist Roger Friedman that this is actually the 'official' budget and that, quote, 'it's probably more like $150 million'. So, the studio is very unlikely to throw more money at what already appears to be a guaranteed failure at the box-office.
And yet, it seems that another disastrous feature film is about to hit the cinemas from all over the world, as the release date is getting closer (June 28) and there is almost no time left for further changes. The same source says that Michael Mann, the director, still has time to solve the situation, but not too much, concluding that 'we would have to pull off a miracle to make it work'.
