The upcoming Circle Pad Pro add-on for the Nintendo 3DS will be powered by a single AAA battery, which is enough to ensure a whopping 480 hours of play time.

Nintendo is getting ready to augment the experience of 3DS owners from all around the world through the Circle Pad Pro add-on, which effectively adds a second circle pad, to the right of the device, as well as extra shoulder buttons.

Because the 3DS’ battery life isn’t that stellar, it seems that Nintendo has decided to power the new add-on with a regular battery, an AAA model, which, according to the Japanese manual of the new peripheral quoted by ONM, is enough to ensure around 480 hours (around 20 days) of play time.

The Circle Pad Pro will be released for the 3DS in Japan tomorrow, December 10, while Europeans will get it on January 27, both as a standalone peripheral and as a bundle with Resident Evil: Revelations.
