The Chaos Engine, a 2D action game developed by Bitmap Brothers published by Mastertronic, will arrive on Steam for Linux in a little over a week.

According to the developers, The Chaos Engine is a game set in a steampunk Victorian age, in which one or two players must battle the hostile creations of the Chaos Engine, across four dynamic landscapes, and take part in the ultimate battle.

Players will get to enter unique worlds, online or within a local co-op mode, play in ‘Enhanced mode’ or ‘Classic mode’ with its original graphics, and even get to listen to a ‘90s sountrack.

The Linux system requirements are pretty reasonable. In fact, it would be difficult to go even lower: Ubuntu 12.04, a Pentium 4 or AMD Athlon 64 (minimum 2.5 GHz) processor, 1 GB RAM, GeForce 6200 or ATI Radeon X300 graphic cards, broadband Internet connection, and 400 MB of available space.

The game benefits from a 10% promotion until August 29, which is also the release date.
