So much for the “SATC” prequel series, “The Carrie Diaries,” which aimed to take the successful universe created by the HBO show and the following 2 feature films, and expand it in the past, by showing how Carrie Bradshaw, the ultimate fashion icon, became Carrie Bradshaw, the ultimate fashion icon.

TV Line confirms that CW has pulled the plug on the series after just 2 seasons, after the finale of the second one barely made a dent in the ratings in January, when it aired.

“Carrie Diaries, a charming, ’80s-era teen drama, based on the Candice Bushnell book, ended its run in late January with an audience of 910,000 and a 0.4 demo rating, making its cancellation a widely predicted conclusion,” the report says.

AnnaSophia Robb, who played Carrie, a character made iconic by Sarah Jessica Parker, will not return to the small screen, at least not on CW. Other series that got the ax are “The Tomorrow People” and “Star-Crossed.”

Maybe fans of the series should not lose all hope about meeting their favorite editor again. A while back, when asked if she’d consider making a third “SATC” movie, Sarah Jessica Parker said she would never turn down a good script if it presented itself to her.

On the downside, she did acknowledge that she couldn’t imagine where her character and her friends would be after all these years.
