Only a few days after the release of the fashionable Motorola U9 clamshell, Fido has now launched another new Motorola phone for the Canadian market, namely the Z6w.

First unveiled by Moto back in February, Fido's new handset comes in a slider form factor, resembling the older Z6 and Z6c models.

The Z6w is part of the UNO-compatible family of handsets that Fido is offering to its customers, hence it can be connected to a Wi-Fi home network, allowing users to surf the Web at fast speeds. Besides this, the slider brings the following features: quad-band GSM connectivity (850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz) with GPRS and EDGE, a 2-inch TFT display with 256K colors and 240 x 320 pixels, Opera Mobile browser, email, Instant Messaging, Windows Media Player, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, a 2 Megapixel camera with flash and video recording, speakerphone, Picture Caller ID, SMS and MMS capabilities, PC synchronization, USB 2.0, 64MB of expandable memory, alarm clock, calendar, calculator, To Do list, and other useful features of this kind.

Moto Z6w weighs 110 grams and, when closed, measures 105 x 45 x 17 millimeters. The 970 mAh battery packed in the phone is said to last up to 6.5 hours in talk-time mode or up to 8 days in stand-by mode.

Free of contract or on prepay, Fido's Motorola Z6w costs $350. Of course, Rogers' subsidiary is also selling the new phone on contract, for lower prices: with a two-year contract, the Z6w can be bought for $160, while those who opt for a three-year agreement can get the handset for only 60 Canadian dollars.

Fido is offering the new Motorola Z6w both online, via its official website, and through its retail stores from across Canada. Consequently, users who think the handset suits their needs just perfectly will be able to find it with ease.
