Previously stated to be an autumn release, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Call of Pripyat won't be coming to the PC this year after all. German publisher bitComposer has moved the launch of the game for the first quarter of the coming year. The news comes straight from their website where they also display the modest system requirements for the PC gaming rig.

Call of Pripyat picks up the story where the original S.T.A.L.K.E.R. campaign ended. The player will be placed in the boots of a Ukrainian special agent who is sent in to the Chernobyl hazard area to perform special recon. A government mission that sent men into the radioactive death trap was put together with the purpose of securing the zone. But no response was heard from the incursion team and the mission was presumed a failure. Your mission, whether you choose to accept it or not, will be to investigate the area and find out what happened to the missing soldiers.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl was released in March 2007 and was a very successful game. A first person shooter with an RPG-styled weapon system and armor, the game told the grim story of mercenaries who entered the lethal zone that surrounded the nuclear power plant of Chernobyl. The game was based on several factions that were formed in the area, as players had an opportunity to grow their reputation with several of them and even join them for specific missions and items. The game offered an impressive graphical representation of the desolated and life-drained surroundings of the Chernobyl area, winning the Special Achievement award for Best Atmosphere in GameSpot's Best and Worst 2007.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Call of Pripyat is the second sequel to the original Call of Chernobyl, with Clear Sky being the first. With the addition of 70 new quests, the game will attempt to change the chaotic and random progress of the storyline, previously experienced in the other games.
