'The Cabin in the Woods' Trailer Promises One Terrifying Ride

A short while ago, there was a lot of talk about a new horror film, “The Cabin in the Woods,” which was hailed as the next big thing on the scene. A first trailer has just dropped.

Directed by “Cloverfield” scribe Drew Goddard, on a script by Goddard and Joss Whedon, the film tells the story of a group of 5 young people trapped in a mountain cabin cut off from the rest of the world.

The trailer kicks off like a typical horror movie trailer, including the clichés we've come to expect from one. However, in this particular case, things aren't what they seem.

If one were to describe the film by the trailer, it seems like it'll play out like a combination of “Evil Dead” (yes, it does seem to have zombies in it) and “The Cube,” since there's clearly someone watching the five friends as they're being slaughtered.

Whether merging two different styles and themes will work out, only time can tell.

“The Cabin in the Woods” stars a pre-fame “Thor” star Chris Hemsworth, Jesse Williams, Kristen Connolly, Anna Hutchison, Fran Kranz, and Richard Jenkins, and will arrive in theaters in April 2012.
