Windows Product Scout is an online destination from Microsoft designed to highlight the best that the Windows 7 ecosystem of hardware and software products has to offer customers. Microsoft’s Mark Relph noted that the software giant is limiting the catalog of items on the Windows Product Scout to just a few items intentionally.

However, all the products featured on the site have been hand-picked and are guaranteed to offer the best user experience possible in combination with Windows 7.

“Windows Product Scout focuses on products that have earned the “Compatible with Windows 7 Logo”,” Relph stated.

“These products have passed Microsoft designed tests for compatibility and reliability with Windows 7 including testing for common issues to minimize the number of crashes, hangs and reboots.

“The team also vetted products based on their experience and focused on products that support key features and technologies in Windows 7 – products that make it easy for you to get the very most out of Windows 7 (features like Windows Touch, Play To, Device Stage).”

Windows Product Scout will continue to evolve, with the Redmond company being hard at work in partnership with software developers and device manufacturers, in order to bring into the limelight forthcoming products.

Windows Product Scout sports an unique user experience, and is also an example of how to tailor a website to Internet Explorer 9, to take advantage of IE9 enhancements such as pinned tabs and JumpLists support.

“Windows Product Scout gives you easy access to information about the products and how to get them. For every app, we offer a direct download link from the 3rd party publisher. In one click, you are ready to start your free trial or access a free version of the application,” Relph added.

“For devices, we offer a link to purchase the product either directly from the manufacturer or the Microsoft Store.”

No less than 58 products have been selected for showcasing as Windows Product Scout went live the past week.

Companies such as Amazon, D-Link, WildTangent, Epson, Sony, Seesmic, Toshiba, etc. are among those behind some of the products currently highlighted on the site.

“Our next update is November 1st and we will provide another update then. If you would like to give us feedback, leave a comment on the blog or hit the feedback button on the site,” Relph said.
