What do you take with you when you go to school? Textbooks, notepads and a few pens. How about replacing that heavy backpack with your iPad instead?

The AppStore editors make it easier for new students to learn faster and better, get organized and even do their homework in a timely manner in order to get some time to play. This new selection of apps is called Kickstart your school year and it has been divided in seven different categories. You are first invited to "Get Organizes" and then "Start Reading". "The Writers' Corner" is here, right before "Math madness", "Make science fun" and "History & Geography". Last one is the most interesting category - "Art & Creativity".

Talking about the apps, the best way to get organized is to use Evernote, Dropbox and a great ToDo Manager like Clear, Finish or the grand daddy of them all - OmniFocus 2 for iPhone.

If you are looking to read something you may find helpful apps like Shakespeare in Bits, Poems by Heart or Rocket Speller Plus. They may be all designed for younger students, so if you are older than 15, you may want to check out Pocket - the app that helps you save articles for reading later, even offline.

If you like writing, then this selection has something in store. Starting with Apple's own Pages.app that comes for free with all new iOS devices and it seamlessly syncs with its OS X and iCloud counterparts.

Day One is the best Journaling app for iOS users. For $4.99 (€3.73) you get an app that has received multiple "App of the Year" awards from Apple. You're not just writing a diary. With this app you get to the next level: add photos, calendar entries, locations, time and date, activity data, music playing and benefit from the great search and browsing features.

Another great app is Convertbot. Its unique design makes it an app worth using. Just mind this one thing: the app was last updated in July of 2010 and it looks as fresh as a newly released app. Convertbot can convert angle, area, currency, data rate, radioactivity and many other categories that total up to 440 units.

If you want to get creative, using an app like iMovie is one way and trying Art Authority is a totally different experience. The latter provides a roster of over 1000 pieces of art on your iPhone. It is like having a library of art collections in your pocket.

Check out all the apps in this selection and start packing your bag for school.
