The Best Selling PSP and DS Games Announced

- You bought them and they're in the charts now

By: Calin Ciabai, Games Editor

Activision has recently announced that its hit game Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is the best selling game in 2007, with 7 million units. Microsoft has announced that Halo 3 sold over 8 million units.
We're confused. So we took a look at something that is clear: the DS and PSP 2007 sales charts.

First, the top selling DS games of 2007:

1. Dr Kawashima's Brain Training
2. More Brain Training from Dr Kawashima
3. NEW Super Mario Bros
4. Cooking Mama
5. Big Brain Academy
6. Pokémon Diamond
7. 42 All-Time Classics
8. Nintendogs: Labrador & Friends
9. Sonic Rush
10. Zoo Tycoon

First of all, as you can see, gamers do care about their brain, so we have an impressive three brain training in the top five. This is huge, if you ask me. Now go tell mom and dad. Video games are good for your health and it's not all about violence and killing and nudity. Actually, none of these top 10 games has any idea what violence is, so you're safe.

Still, there is another interesting thing regarding these best selling DS titles. Two of these games were released in 2006, while other two were released back in 2005. What the Hell does this mean? Well.. it's one of two: either these were great, great games, or the 2007 releases were total flukes. Strange.

Now, let's see what did the PSP owners bought in 2007:

1. GTA: Vice City Stories
2. FIFA 08
3. Sega Mega Drive Collection
4. Pro Evolution Soccer 6
5. GTA: Liberty City Stories
6. Sonic Rivals
7. The Simpsons Game
8. FIFA 07
9. Midnight Club 3: Dub Edition
10. Need for Speed: Carbon

Only three of these games were released in 2007. So it's about the same thing with the PSP owners. There is, still, a big difference. Here we have sports, cars and violence combined with sports and cars in the top ten. That's better. These are the real games. (No, actually I'm joking, I am completely against violence in video games and blood is really uncool!). Whatever. These are the charts, we'll see next year what changes there will be.
