EISA, The European Imaging and Sound Association, has just awarded the best phones in Europe in 2010. One of the most prestigious organization in the audio, video and mobile area, EISA started to its activity in 1982 when a group of editors-in-chief from five European photo magazines came together to select “The Camera of the Year” for the first time. Now the association gathers together no less than 50 magazines from 19 different European countries

EISA 2010 features 6 different award categories: Audio & Home Theater, In-Car Electronics, Photo, Video, Mobile Devices, and Green.

This year's Mobile Devices awards weren't a surprise for anyone, as Apple, Samsung and Sony Ericsson received prizes for some of their products.

Apple's iPad received European Tablet 2010-2011 award, which designates the best tablet of the year. The award was based on Apple's innovative work, which managed to come up with a revolutionary new product that it is said to mark the beginning of a new era for publishing.

The second prize of the Mobile Devices category, European Portable Navigation Device 2010-2011, was awarded to Garmin Nüvi 3790t as the best product of the year. The Garmin Nüvi 3790t provides excellent route guidance with 3D map views, junction views, lane assist features and also nuRoute safety features including myTrends, Garmin Connect, 100 Routes and other facilities.

Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9000 received the award European Smartphone 2010-2011, for the best smartphone of the year. Powered by an Android operating system, the Galaxy S is a the “Holy Grail” of the users wanting to be connected, entertained and updated on the move. Thanks to its huge SuperAMOLED 4-inch 800x480 pixel touch screen, it provides an exceptional viewing experience. The smartphone is considered “a well made device that should capture the attention of every mobile phone lover”.

The Korean company received a second prize, European Social Media Phone 2010-2011, awarded for Samsung Wave GT-S8500. Powered by the Bada operating system, Samsung Wave S8500 provides means and applications for social media environments.

The last award, European Mobile Phone 2010-2011, was given to Sony Ericsson for Xperia X10 mini handset. The prize was awarded given the phone's “small size and weight and variety of vivid case colours [which] make it perfect for introducing the fairer sex to smartphone technology.”
