Stoic’s smash hit The Banner Saga will get its sequel next year, but we already knew that since the US-based developer announced the game over the weekend at Game Awards event, in Las Vegas.

However, Stoic and Sony only confirmed The Banner Saga 2 would be arriving on PlayStation 4 in 2015, which kind of put fans off. Even though a PC version couldn’t have been skipped by developer Stoic, there was the issue of time exclusivity for the PS4.

Fortunately, there’s no such thing and both PC and console gamers will be treated the same, as The Banner Saga 2 will be launched sometime in 2015.

Details about the upcoming game are a bit scarce at the moment, but here is Arnie Jorgensen, co-owner and art director, Stoic, saying that the team will definitely work hard to deliver an even more appealing The Banner Saga game:

“The critical reception and widespread fan appreciation for The Banner Saga is overwhelming and humbling, and has the team at Stoic dedicated to delivering a fantastic sequel with The Banner Saga 2.”

Details and info on The Banner Saga sequel will be announced in 2015

According to Stoic, more details on The Banner Saga 2 will be unveiled in early 2015, so fans will have to wait at least one more month for additional information.

Considering The Banner Saga is one of the most awarded indie games in 2014, players probably have high expectations from the sequel that should be launched next year.

One thing we know for sure, developer Stoic confirmed that they would continue the story of The Banner Saga, so we kind of expect to be able to use our saved games into the sequel. It would be great to continue to play with the same characters we grew fond of.

In the same piece of new, The Banner Saga will be available on PS Vita as well, so fans of Sony’s mobile gaming console should be happy they will soon be able to grab a game with one of the most beautiful stories ever.

Stoic promised that the PS Vita version would feature “stunning 2D animation art, a unique tactical combat system and a cast of unforgettable characters.”

The Banner Saga truly has one of the most touchy-feely story included in a games, which is why developers will have a hard time delivering a sequel that will be just as good.

Until more details and information on the sequel emerge next year, why not check out our The Banner Saga review.
