First look at the superheroes in 2012’s “The Avengers” from Marvel

Comic book fans can call today Christmas come early. The latest issue of Entertainment Weekly comes with brand new stills from “The Avengers” (2012), as well as a lengthy interview with most of the leading men (and woman, Scarlett Johansson).

With so many months to go until the release of the film that will see all heroes from previous Marvel productions come together on the same screen, anticipation is already building up.

The EW cover is actually the first time that all superheroes in the film come together, even if they do so thanks to Photoshop and not an actual photoshoot.

Speaking of which, it includes Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man (looking as good as ever), Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow (apparently missing her shoulders), Chris Hemsworth as Thor (staring towards greener pastures), Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye (barely recognizable), Chris Evans as Captain America (looking as if about to cry) and Mark Ruffalo as The Hulk (making a very painful yet hilarious face).

The photo cover has already gotten some fans cracking jokes online about the bad Photoshop that went into making it, but that does nothing in terms of altering the sense of anticipation the issue of EW brings.

As noted above, an interview with the stars is also included and, as expected, they dish on the challenges their characters will be facing in this new and bold adventure.

Renner, for instance, talks about Hawkeye, and how he and Black Widow are the only humans without superpowers of the bunch (Iron Man has the suit, it doesn’t count).

“The only sort of thing I cling to is the relationship of past experiences with Scarlett’s character, with them both being human. I can cling to that. [But he’s not insecure about not having super powers.] Quite the opposite,” Renner says.

“He’s the only one who can really take down The Hulk with his tranq tip arrows. He knows his limitations, but when it comes down to it, there has to be a sense of confidence in any superhero,” the actor adds.

Scarlett too opens up a bit about working on one of the most anticipated superhero movies of next year – and dishes some details about how awesome she looked with her guns.
