Marvel ups the ante on promo campaign, ahead of the release of a new trailer

It's been a while since Marvel has put anything out to push “The Avengers,” its upcoming summer blockbuster, featuring the most popular superheroes in the Marvel universe. This changes today.

The movie studio has released a brand new poster for the film, which will be out on May 4, 2012.

It comes just before the release of a new trailer, one that will hopefully include more footage than the ones released so far.

Until then, we have the poster. In all fairness, it's not bad – but it's not that good either.

Fans have long complained about the need to have all the characters in the same room when they shoot photos that will then be used to make posters because, otherwise, they end up like the one above.

It's obvious from a mile away that this was put together on a computer, and you don't even have to look at Captain America to see how he's almost as big as The Hulk to realize that.

The whole feel of the poster is rushed and botched, made from promo stills we've already seen at least once before. Marvel needs to really step it up.
