The small and cool Asus Eee PC is now finally available for pre-order through the AllAsus website that acts as an online store for all kinds of Asus computer hardware components, including mobile computer systems. While the low cost laptop systems can be pre-ordered now, they will only be available for purchase in the first days of October, when they will also start
shipping.

There are only three possible configurations of the Asus Eee PC right now and the lowest cost one starts at $259.99. This low cost solution is based on the Eee PC 700 model that is only available in black, while on the hardware side it offers an Intel made central processing unit, a small solid state drive for data storage of 2GB and 256MB of random access memory. The next in line is the $299 model that is the exact replica of the previous version, while including an additional built-in 0.3 megapixel web camera.

The best Asus Eee PC is the one priced at almost $400 and it is codenamed 701. This model comes with 512MB of random access memory, 4GB of embedded non-volatile flash based storage and a webcam too. The 701 and the intermediate models are available for sale in both black and white colors and they come with a carrying bag.

While it is known that all three of the Asus Eee PCs are based on Intel made central processing units and chipsets, the exact models were not disclosed by the manufacturing company, but according to the news site laptoping, there are indications that the CPU is in fact a Celeron M, which would explain the low price tag.

An Intel integrated graphics solution is used to power the small 7-inch display that is able to provide a native 800x480 resolution, while the four cell battery system should provide enough energy for around three hours of runtime. On the networking side, the Asus Eee PC comes with wireless and wired connection and built in stereo speakers and a microphone. Three high speed USB 2.0 ports, a VGA and an audio outputs are also available and the system comes with a Linux based operating system installed, while also offering support and drivers for Microsoft Windows XP.
