Apple has taken down its online store for maintenance, leaving a brief message on the System Status page saying, “The Apple Store is being updated and will be back soon.”

Typically, Apple takes down its online store whenever there’s something new to launch, and this time could be no different.

However, with an iCloud outage accompanying the downtime and Apple’s October 22 iPad event now confirmed, it’s less likely to see any new refreshes once the venue is back on its feet.

Accessing store.apple.com yields the message pictured above (at the time of this writing – 9:52 AM EEST). Apple indicates that the downtime will be over at 11:00 AM EEST.

As far as the iCloud outage is concerned, the issues have been resolved as of 7:55 AM EEST, with Apple acknowledging that “Users may have been unable to access the Calendar and Reminders web applications at iCloud.com.”

Update #1: Apple's System Status page now says the store outage has been extended to 12:00 PM (EEST).

Update #2: After five hours of outage, the Apple Store is back online with no immediately visible changes.
