Did you know the ITU Telecom World 2006 conference has begun in Hong Kong? No? Well, I did. Why is this so important for you to know? Well, with its start, the season of handset show-offs has also begun and the phone that has attracted my attention at a first glance is Samsung's SGH-F500. This is a device that focuses on the video viewing pleasure of its users and is able to do that thanks to its 2.4 inch 256 colors
TFT LCD working at a resolution of 240x320 pixels.
The F500 is one of the Ultra Series phones developed by
Samsung,
a fact that shows that this handset is going to be a king in the slim phones world, a king that will rule due to its high-tech multimedia features and its 116.4x50.4x10.7 mm measures.
The tri-band cell phone's specification sheet says the future owners will be provided with a 2 megapixel camera, EDGE, USB and GPRS connectivity, dual face, a multimedia player with support for MP3, WMA, AAC, AAC+, e-AAC+ audio files and MPEG-4, H.263, DivX and WMV video clips, wireless Bluetooth with
A2DP stereo music profile to maximize the audio experience of the user, a swiveling navigation keypad to let you place the handset on a flat surface, 400 MB of built-in storage space and a microSD memory expansion card slot that can go up to 2 GB.
Overall, this seams to be another living proof of what Samsung is capable of, a proof going to be released in the 1st quarter of 2007. I'm anxious to see what they will come up with until then because at the rate they
launch phone after phone on the mobile market, we're going to forget a lot of them until the actual release and when that happens, almost everybody will wait for other releases going to take place in the future.
I can't dare to think about how the mobile market would look like if all phone manufacturers would be as productive as Samsung is (with an emphasis on quality because no one cares about bad phones even if they come in big numbers and in lots of models) . But then again, if we multiply the number of handsets released by Samsung each month by 10 (to include the top 10 manufacturers worldwide) one can get a pretty impressive and comprehensive picture of what things should look like in such a case.
