The 3rd Super Robot Taisen Z got off to a very good start, managing to sell over 270k copies in just a week since it was launched on the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita platforms.

The information comes from Japanese sales tracker Media Create, reporting that the PlayStation 3 version of 3rd Super Robot Wars Z: Time Prison Chapter sold 76 percent of its shipped copies, and that the PlayStation Vita version of the robot shooting game sold through 81 percent of its shipment, as Siliconera points out.

Whereas the combined sales of the 3rd Super Robot Taisen Z: Time Prison Chapter have not been as high as The 2nd Super Robot Taisen Z: Destruction Chapter's first week sales of 307k copies, back in 2011, when it was released on the PlayStation Portable, the new game was still able to pull off an impressive record.

The 2nd Super Robot Taisen Z: Regeneration Chapter sold somewhere around 265k copies when it was launched in 2012, placing the newest installment somewhere in the middle and proving that Namco Bandai managed to keep fans of the franchise interested in the game in spite of the game jumping platform from the PSP.

The past trend for these games has shown that they tend to end up with around 30 percent more sales than their launch record, placing The 3rd Super Robot Taisen Z at an estimated total of about 350k units sold in the long run.
