The printing press is one of the greatest inventions of all time and spearheaded the information revolution that we're still enjoying now. Yet, the invention that has been around for more than half a millennium is about to go extinct. Well, OK, maybe it will take a few more decades but it's definitely on its way out.

Don't worry though, 3D printing is coming to the rescue with the help of Stampomatica, a 3D printed letterpress.

The device is actually quite interesting. It comes in two sizes, one suitable for business cards, and the other large enough for postcards.

The idea is that you print out the design you want to imprint, attach it to the small letter press, add some paint, and get started creating your hand printed posters.

"Mixing vintage letterpress wood types with super brain concentrate, a 3D printer, 3 levers and some lush uncoated cotton paper here is for you: Stampomatica," the device's creators explain.
