It may be a couple of months late but Google has finally launched the Google Maps game it teased in January. The game is now live, at playmapscube.com, but you're going to need a modern browser and a decent enough computer to run it.

The game is built on WebGL and makes ample use of the 3D graphics and the 3D buildings data in Maps to use as levels.

The game is a puzzle, the object is to move the blue ball, aka you in Google Maps, to your destination navigation the real life city streets of some of the most famous locations in the world.

It's a fun distraction and you may waste quite a few minutes with it. It's certainly original and an interesting way of promoting Google Maps.
