The 256-bit Encryption USB Stick

- Extra protection for your data

By: Bogdan Ionescu, Hardware Editor

Lexar Media has launched the JumpDrive Secure II, that features 256-bit AES encryption allowing users to secure
their files
and folders. JumpDrive Secure II has an onscreen dashboard interface that makes it easy to navigate through the drive's advanced security features.

The so called dashbaord allows you to create secure files on the USB drive or on the host computer by using the "Encrypted Vault" feature. From here it becomes very easy. You can drag and drop files into the vault and they become automatically secured with the 256 bit AES encryption. Also, when you drag them, out of the vault they are automatically decrypted.

JumpDrive Secure II come bundled with another software tool called File Shredder, which deletes files but without them leaving a "digital trail" that gets behind when a normal file is deleted. If you deleted a file with File Shredder, it cannot be recovered by recovery tools.

The device features a compact size, smaller than its predecessor. JumpDrive II software works on Windows 2000 SP4, Windows XP, SP1 and SP2, Windows XP Home Edition SP1 and SP2, as well as Mac OS 10.2.7 or later versions.

The capacities available for JumDrive are 256 MB, 512 MB, 1 GB and 2 GB.
