"Mission: Impossible III" helmer J.J. Abrams will produce and direct the eleventh "Star Trek" feature. The movie is to be finished and released by 2008, according to Variety. The Star Trek franchise is one of the longest going in Hollywood. Ever since the late 60s TV show became hugely popular; the adventures of the different starships named Enterprise and of the various crews have been in the center of attention for a huge number of fans.
Paramount's idea of resurrecting the beloved Enterprise comes in a moment that seems to mark a resurrection of comics inspired sci-fi action movies.
J.J Abrams, whose highly buzzed debut M:I-III is soon to be released comes with a very impressive TV experience. Mr. Abrams is one of the master minds behind outstanding TV shows such as "Lost", "Alias" and "Felicity".
Even though the future movies project has no name attached to it, two of the relevant team members are already known: Damon Lindelof and Bryan Burk, Abrams' producing team from "Lost."
The project is to be written by some other former colleagues of Abrams, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, who were also involved in the Mission: Impossible 3 movie.
Darkhorizons.com says that the story „looks like it'll be a prequel of the franchise with the story set in the early days of original series characters James T. Kirk and Mr. Spock - including their first meeting at Starfleet Academy and first outer space mission."
