We all remember Winona; she was just one of those faces that strongly marked the cinematographic history back in the '90s. She was pretty, if a little whiny, with big brown eyes that pierced right through you and incredible talent. She made great movies and became soon enough the perfect role-model for all teenage girls. Until she was caught shop-lifting...
In 2001, Winona got into real troubles with the law: the too wealthy star did such a stupid thing that she fell from the public's grace and, not because she resorted to shop-lifting but more because she was stupid enough to get caught in the act.
This summer will be very busy for Ryder. Today, the controversial, partially animated movie 'A Scanner Darkly' was released and the actress is also preparing to promote the comedy 'The Darwin Awards'. Both are breaking new grounds in their respective genres and critics are already applauding the impressive comeback of a star that seemed to have lost her shine for ever.

'A Scanner Darkly' is a film about underground crime, cops, drugs and paranoia and it takes its viewer through a grim world, where the boundaries one used to be familiar with are no longer valid. Its cast includes such good actors as Woody Harrelson, Keanu Reeves, Robert Downey Jr. and, of course, Winona Ryder.
On the opposite side lies 'The Darwin Awards', where Ryder stars next to Joseph Fiennes, David Arquette and Chris Penn. The plot focuses on a man and a woman that are desperately trying to find a 'Darwin Award' winner, that is, a man who had killed himself in the most stupid way possible. The prize goes to him/her because he helped the genetic pool by getting rid of his genes.
All in all, a summer full of events for Winona. And for us, the viewers, too. Have fun!
