Fox News announced yesterday that it would be using ridiculously large, 55-inch Microsoft touchscreens in its brand new studio, so viewers at home could see staff working on various platforms in real time, to deliver the latest news.

Thanks to their new studio, a new meme was born and, if you guessed it had to do with space ships, you were not wrong.

Shepard Smith was proud to say that this is was the future of news reporting because it allowed viewers an inside look into the newsroom, as journalists kept up to speed with what was going on in the world.

According to the Internet, this is more than just the future of journalism: it’s the future, period. Because not few were those who noticed certain similarities between the studio and a spaceship, hilarious Photoshopped pics emerged on Twitter.

See the gallery below for a fine selection of them, courtesy of Buzzfeed. Captain Jean Luc Picard Smith says “make it so, Number One.” Enjoy!
