As far as weird gadgets go, this one takes the cake

Thanko is the company behind a great many things, a large proportion of them being less than normal, even on a market where the uncanny is supposed to be the norm. The UV Air Purifier proves it.

From just the name, one might be hard pressed to figure out why the product would qualify as strange, but a photo of it, or even a cursory glance over its description, will do away with the confusion.

After all, one wouldn't think that a USB-connected device would be made to purify the air, of all things.

Nevertheless, this is precisely the role that Thanko envisioned for the USB-powered UV Air Purifier, and it made sure it would play it well.

Priced at $65 / 50-65 Euro, it is surprisingly small but improves air quality in any room, be it an office, a bedroom, hallways, kitchen, etc.

Of course, USB ports are unlikely to be found in the kitchen, unless someone takes their laptop instead of sticking to their study.

At any rate, the purified air can go a long way towards ensuring a clean environment. Not only does it clean the air of odors, it also purifies it of dirt and allergens.

In fact, it has an internal ionizer that helps capture all these particles, and can even kill bacteria and germs thanks to the integrated violet light.

Speaking of violet light, the concept is the same as the one behind the use of ultraviolet light in hospitals, as it can sterilize the air by killing airborne bacteria. It is a proven method.

Thanko built the USB air purifier with a two-speed controller. The stacked filter can clean the air of particles as small as 0.3 µm.

Buyers shouldn't expect Thanko's USB-powered UV Air Purifier to clean entire hangar bays, but small rooms will be freshened up just fine.
