We're not sure just how many of you are familiar with Japanese company Thanko, but those of you who have never heard of this specialty PC accessories' manufacturer ought to know that, over the years, they've come up with some of the craziest (but in the same time, some of the coolest) product designs, which also applies to their latest product, the Keyboard Quiet Cover, that should, at least in theory, silence-down your keyboard, while also providing it with a higher degree of protection.

Admittedly, the design is a tad bizarre (a plastic case placed on top of the actual PC keyboard), and typing while this thing is on doesn't exactly seem to be the easiest possible thing (since one will have to slip their hands underneath the cover), but the truth of the matter is that there are numerous situations in which such an accessory might prove its worth.

In fact, there are quite a lot of cases when people sharing the same office space can be disturbed by someone typing a tad too hard on the keys (this is a bit of a personal experience), or when one has to keep quiet in order to no wake up their sleeping spouse or kids.

Furthermore, as an additional bonus, the case will keep the keyboard protected from dust and liquids, although we don't think spilling your coffee on this thing will be possible, while your hands are “held hostage” under the silencing cover.

As far as we're concerned, the only thing that hinders this cover's level of functionality is the fact that one has to place his/her hands under the cover, thus reducing their typing effectiveness, so we envision this thing being used mostly for relatively short periods of time.

Thanko's Keyboard Quiet Cover is already available for sale in Japan and outside it (via GeekStuff4U) and retails for 2,980 Japanese Yen (around 35 US dollars), which is a fairly small price, all things considered.
