Similarly, you might know that she has a very healthy sense of humor, and not be entirely surprised to hear that she’s now making headlines for confirming years-old rumors about her biggest secret to an amazing figure.
Apparently, Thalia has had several of her ribs removed to appear thinner.
Just like that rumor that Jennifer Lopez has a personal assistant hired specifically to enter a room before her and spray her favorite perfume in the air, or that Mariah Carey won’t even look at “the help,” whom she expects never to address her directly, this one about Thalia has been around ever since she was still a very popular and active telenovela actress.
And just like those other two, it was never confirmed either.
Earlier this week, two reporters from the Philippines went on national TV to say that they had confirmation from Thalia herself that she had, indeed, had her ribs removed to get a slimmer and more elongated waist. Video of their allegations is embedded below.
As word of it spread among Thalia’s fans, she took to social media to make fun of the reports, and in the process, all those who might believe them. She hasn’t stopped since.
“Watching Aquino and Abunda Tonight, a talk show in Philippines, Ms. Aquino is saying I had some of my Famous Ribs removed.To all my Filipino fans I would like to set the record straight about this issue,” Thalia wrote in the caption of one video she posted to Instagram.
You will find all those below as well. You see she made sure she used heavily Photoshopped photos of herself in them, just in case anyone got the wrong idea – i.e. actually thought she was confirming the rumor.
The last video she posted actually included just two photos in which she was pointing at a jar that is obviously Photoshopped: those were the ribs she had had removed.
“To all my loving Filipino fans, here is the proof I love (love) My Famous Ribs, I kept them with me all these years,” Thalia wrote. Because that’s what any woman would do after getting surgery to have ribs removed: pickle them for safekeeping and as a reminder of a time when she was ribbier.
Thalia has always had a very healthy sense of humor, particularly where it concerned rumors about herself. At 42, she seems to have discovered the fountain of youth (or, like Jennifer Lopez, is a vampire), so she’s even more comfortable than before to address rumors that probably bothered her a lot when she was younger.
Her fans were able to tell that she was joking about the ribs, and appreciated her for it. Tabs like Metro, not so much.
