SmileOnMyMac, a team of localizers, marketing experts, graphic and web designers, professionals and friends have released the latest version of their typing shortcut application called TextExpander. Version 2.1 adds improved performance and reliability for people who type faster than the average bear, remembers open groups in Preference pane and allows single character abbreviations, to name a few additions. A demo version is available right HERE.

TextExpander, as SmileOnMyMac puts it, "listens to what you type and inserts user-defined snippets on the fly whenever you enter their corresponding abbreviations." The utility software supports dates, times, plain text, formatted text, cursor positioning, images and more, but also helps you save countless hours on things you would otherwise type repeatedly.

Also, you will be able by using TextExpander to correct your most common typos automatically and type special characters without having to launch a special characters palette. Organizing snippets into groups, inserting the current date and time in any format you prefer and syncing snippets via .Mac will prove to be quite helpful and stress-relieving, as well. The software is also a great tool for programmers who can make editor-independent code templates and invoke AppleScripts.

The software costs 29.95 $ to buy. The downloadble trial version is a fully-operational free, 30-day trial version of TextExpander. The software is identical to the purchased version, SmileOnMyMac says, After 30 days, SmilyOnMyMac reminds you to purchase and register your copy.

TextExpander 2.1 highlights include the ability to add links to these snippet files and have them updated on a regular basis, performance and reliability improvements for fast typists, remembers open groups in Preference pane, preserves format when creating snippets from selection or Clipboard, allows single character abbreviations.

Fixes include a problem expanding when there are multiple nested snippets. Version 2.1 of TextExpander brings other minor fixes and improvements too.
