3D printing is a great technology for moving forward, but many people who would use it do not have the knowledge and skills to do so. Most workforce doesn't have a background in 3D printing, because 3D printing hasn't been around for long enough itself.

Seeing the increasing demand for studies and practical experience in 3D printing, the Rouech Graduate Center at National American University in Austin, Texas, has begun to offer certificate courses.

Professionals and business leaders who want to become more familiar with the technology can apply for such studies through the 3DiLabs website.

There are two courses available for now, a 3-hour workshop (which costs $69 / €51.48) and a 6-week course called “Leading Innovation and Change with 3D Technology.” Obviously, the latter is a lot more expensive, at $1,200 - $1,500 / €895 - €1,119.

The studies will allow people to not only make better use of the technology available to them, but also determine if it is worth it for their particular company (if any) to invest in 3D printing.

Other courses such as this have been opening at universities around the world, now that 3D printing has well and truly stabilized its status as new and future-looking domain. There are even specialist courses. That Master's degree for 3D bioprinting comes to mind.
