Dale Ross, mayor of the city of Georgetown in Texas, US, put people attending an April 28 council meeting in a very awkward position when he took a bathroom break and forgot to turn off his microphone while visiting the toilet.

The result was that everybody could hear him relieving himself and flushing when he was done. The embarrassing incident was caught on film, and the video, posted online shortly after the mishap and available below, is now making the rounds.

People could not help but laugh at the mayor's mistake

As mentioned, it was during an April 28 council meeting that Georgetown mayor Dale Ross forgot to switch off his microphone before heading for the restroom.

Just before leaving, the mayor gave the word to city councilwoman Rachel Jonrowe. Unsuspecting of what would soon follow, the councilwoman started talking about antibiotic resistance.

Rachel Jonrowe only managed to get a few sentences out before the sound of mayor Dale Ross using the bathroom distracted her and she burst out laughing.

The councilwoman did her best not to veer off course and stick to talking about the issue of antibiotic resistance, but in the end, she had to pause and let out a few wholehearted giggles.

Together with the other people attending the council meeting, Rachel Jonrowe was still laughing when the mayor returned to the table. Still, nobody told Dale Ross anything about the mishap.

The mayor must have eventually learned about the incident

Seeing how it’s been a few days since this awkward occurrence, one can only assume that mayor Dale Ross knows all about it. If his colleagues didn't inform him, then he must have at least seen the video.

Even so, neither the Georgetown mayor nor Rachel Jonrowe has so far made any official comments on it. Given how embarrassing the situation is, odds are they'll choose to forever remain silent on the topic.
