Texas Hold 'Em in Windows Vista will be a game delivered via the Ultimate Extras. In this regards, it will also be one of the features that will be locked down in the eventuality that Vista will not
pass the Windows Genuine Advantage evaluation, along with Windows Photo Gallery, Aero, Windows Media Center and Windows DVD Maker.

Although Texas Hold' Em will be made available as a download through Vista Ultimate Extras products and services, the game will not be developed by Microsoft. Microsoft outsourced the bundled card games FreeCell, Hearts, Solitaire and Spider Solitaire to Oberon Games. Oberon Games enjoys since this year the support of Don Ryan as Vice President of Publishing. Ryan has moved to Oberon from the position of manager with Microsoft Game Studios.

However, despite the fact that Oberon games is the developer of FreeCell, Hearts, Solitaire and Spider Solitaire, together with all the other Vista bundled inbox games, excluding InkBall, another gaming company will create the Texas Hold 'Em game for Windows Vista. This, in the context in which Oberon has already published a Texas Hold 'Em Poker game.

At this point in time, speculations suggest a game developing company called Mobicore. Mobicore's news reports on December 31 2005: "Code complete milestone - We have just completed a Texas Hold'em poker game for Microsoft Windows Vista. Now we are focusing on minor UI tweaks and bug fixes."

It looks like a cool game, just like all the other card games, but what's up with it being just for Ultimate? There is no reson it shouldn't be available for download to whomever has a valid copy of Vista. I didn't pay hundreds of dollars for Premium only to be shafted out of every little extra thing just because I didn't want to pay the additional couple hundred dollars for nothing more of an OS.
