Texas has executed its 500th prisoner by lethal injection on Wednesday, June 26, reports say.

Kimberly McCarthy has undergone the injection as the penalty for the murder of a neighbor in 1997.

As I wrote before, her execution was initially scheduled for January but she received an extension to argue race discrimination by the white jury at her trial.

According to Dallas News, McCarthy was addicted to crack-cocaine, which prompted her to try to rob her elderly neighbor, kill her, then cut off her finger and try to pawn off the ring on it.

“This is not a loss, this is a win. You know where I am going. [...] I am going home to be with Jesus,” she uttered as her last words.
