A store in Austin, Texas has fired an employee over using a domestic violence joke to promote their beer.

“I like my beer like I like my violence: domestic,” the sign put in front of the shop read.

The manager at Minibar was alerted about the offensive sign by Austin resident Seetha Kulandaisamy, who volunteers at a women’s shelter.

Kulandaisamy tells ABC News that the sign was not only offensive, it was not even that funny. Owner Alex Elmiger was forced to explain that he does not support domestic violence.

He is now donating $1 (€0.73) of every domestic beer he sells to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence.

The bar will be issuing donations throughout the month of October, when domestic violence awareness is being promoted.
