14 DAY TRIAL // Early adopters leveraging Internet Information Services 7 (IIS 7) to stream content to customers should have a look at Microsoft’s Transform Manager 1.0 for their video format conversion needs.
Available for download in Beta, Transform Manager 1.0 comes to the table with a range of encoding capabilities, with the Redmond company underlining that conversion tasks can be associated with files for on-demand Smooth Streams for Silverlight clients and Apple mobile digital devices.
“Transform Manager is an extensible media transform engine that easily enables "Watch Folder" job submission, queuing, management, integrated media transcoding/transmuxing, and batch-encryption of on-demand audio and video files,” Microsoft revealed.
An Alpha development milestone of Transform Manager 1.0 was released in 2010, and the solution evolved quite a bit since, with a range of improvements and new features available for Beta testers to try.
Customers will find that they’re able to use Transform Manager 1.0 Beta not only to convert Smooth Streaming content for Apple iOS, but also to transform .mp4 files into Smooth Streaming presentations, and even DRM encryption on top.
Essentially, the IIS Transform Manager 1.0 Beta enables users to: convert an existing content library; transmux MP4 files for Smooth Streaming; transmux for Apple iOS devices; apply DRM encryption; constant ingest / transcode; monitor Watch Folders; apply improved Logging; scale out with HPC; manage credentials granularly; task-chaining and create custom tasks.
“Transform Manager integrates directly with Microsoft Expression Encoder 4 to allow you to queue up multiple encode jobs in specified input folders ("Watch Folders") on your server, process them per a Job Template created from a set of pre-defined rules ("Tasks"), and then deliver them directly to specified output folders,” Microsoft revealed.
Early adopters testing the IIS extension via the IIS Manager user interface will need the IIS Management Console for IIS.
