On Tuesday night, the fifth season of The Voice reached its finale and chose its winner. It was Tessanne Chin who edged out the competition to take home the winning spot. This marks the second win for the team of Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine. His previous win was in the first season of the show, when he helped Javier Colon get to the number one position. This season, Tessanne managed to out-perform and out-sing finalists Will Champlin and Jacquie Lee.

After the winner of the 5th season was announced, Tessanne went on to perform an original song called “Tumbling Down” which was written especially for this occasion by Ryan Tedder.

In an earlier performance during the same show, Tessanne joined Celine Dion in a performance of the song “Love Can Move Mountains.” The other contestants took to the stage too. Lee performed “Ain't It Fun” with rock band Paramore while Champlin sang along Aloe Blacc a rendition of “Wake Me Up.”

The other musical guests of the evening included resounding names such as Lady GaGa, Ne-Yo and One Republic. To complete the festivities, the Top 20 contestants showed up to do a crowd performance of the song “Tonight is the Night.”

Apart from announcing the fifth season winner, The Voice is already set to move on to the next batch of contestants in season 6. But before the auditions are held, the show has announced the judges line-up. Adam Levine and Blake Shelton were already confirmed to return to the show, accompanied by Shakira and Usher, who replaced previous judges Christina Aguilera and Cee-Lo in season 4.

Season 6 of The Voice is set to premiere in February. The producers have announced a special two-day premiere on Monday February 24 and on Tuesday, February 25.
