There has been a lot of speculation about supermarket giant Tesco gearing up to unveil its own branded tablet, dubbed Hudl.

As of today, the information is official and the slate will be available for purchase starting September, 30, accompanied by a wide range of accessory choices. Tesco has taken the opportunity to roll out some details about the upcoming Hudl.

Apparently, it will come packed with a 1.5Ghz quad-core processor, a 7-inch screen with a 1,440 x 900 pixel resolution and will be powered by Android 4.2.2. Two front and rear cameras will be provided, and storage is set to 16GB with a possibility of expansion to 32GB via the microSD card.

One thing is missing though – 3G or 4G connectivity. According to Pocket-Lint, it looks like the device will be available in multiple colors.

Tesco's faithful Clubcard customers will be allowed to use vouchers to purchase the slate.

Speaking of which, the Hudl will probably be one of the most convenient tablets on the market, being priced at just £119 / $190 / €141. Add vouchers and the price goes down to £60 / $96 / €71.

With this release, Tesco is certainly setting the stage to draw its customers even closer to it, by packing the slate with its own software, just like in the case of Amazon. Among other things, buyers will be able to set up shopping lists of manage Tesco-related finances with a few taps.
