Since 2013 came to an end, a lot of companies are posting their sales figure to brag or just to postulate excuses for their failure (see Barnes & Nobles).

One of the past year’s winners turns out to be Tesco, which just announced it has sold 400,000 units of its own branded Hudl tablet in the three months of 2013, during which the slate was available on the market, says Pocket-Lint.

The supermarket tablet has been praised in some reviews and ridiculed in others, but it appears it has managed to win over many Brits’ hearts.

The Hudl comes with a 7-inch screen, 1.5GHz quad-core processor and runs with Android Jelly Bean 4.2 out of the box. It’s also available in a variety of fun colors, for those looking to add a dash of color to their lives.

With such a success up its sleeve, Tesco is reportedly already working on a second-gen Hudl tablet expected to come with improved screen and processor. I wonder if its price will go below the current £119 / $195 / €143 margin.
