The next-gen Tesco Hudl tablet will arrive this autumn

When UK supermarket giant Tesco announced that it was launching its own branded tablet, everyone was a little bit skeptic. However, the device proved to be good enough and arrived with a decent set of specs for an affordable price range.

Tesco has already made public its plans of releasing a successor for its popular Hudl tablet, set to arrive later this year. The company hasn't said anything about specifications, but if you are dying to know what upgrades will come with the next-gen Hudl, the specs have appeared on the benchmarking data base GFXBench.

And compared to the first edition, the Hudl 2 will arrive with a really nice list of feats. Compared to the first Hudl, which has a 7-inch screen and 1,440 x 900 pixels, the next-gen one will boast an 8.2-inch display with 1920 x 1200 pixel resolution.

The processor inside will be provided by Intel, in the form of a 1.83GHz quad-core Intel Z3735D chip fitted with 2GB of RAM and 16GB internal storage.

Other highlights include two cameras (5MP on the back and 1.2MP on the front), Wi-Fi support and the presence of Android 4.4.2 out of the box.

Since the Hudl 2 offers a palpable upgrade from the first model, I’m pretty curious to see how Tesco will handle the pricing issue. If it manages to keep the rates low enough, the slate will certainly become a big hit.

The Tesco Hudl is said to arrive in September and will arrive alongside a premium Tesco-branded smartphone.
