As promised, Arnold Schwarzenegger will be back – but at a later date

Paramount, Skydance Productions, and Annapurna Pictures are currently working on a reboot for the “Terminator” franchise which, so far, only has original leading Arnold Schwarzenegger confirmed to appear in it.

The film was initially supposed to be out in theaters on June 26, 2015 but the release has been pushed back by one week, to July 1, Deadline reports.

“That puts it in the Fourth of July weekend wheelhouse along with Fox’s Independence Day sequel and an under-wraps animated pic from Illumination Entertainment,” the movie-oriented publication writes.

This means that either the studio is confident “Terminator” will be no match for its competitors or is hoping that the extended holiday weekend will boost its box office chances, regardless of the competition.

“Terminator” is directed by Alan Taylor on a script by Laeta Kalogridis and Patrick Lussier. After the disappointing McG’s “Terminator: Salvation,” a reboot is just what the franchise needs right now, so fingers crossed for this one.
