343 Industries and Microsoft have announced that they are planning to deliver more content for the Halo brand as the ten years anniversary of the first title in the series is drawing near, although neither of the two companies offered any information about a new video games set in the universe.

Halo Waypoint is the first target for an update and the online destination for the Halo franchise, which will allow players to view their service record from Reach, complete with the entire game history, weapons stats and Challenges.

There's also a new feature called “Compare with Friends”, which sounds like a sort of Autolog applied to the Halo franchise, allowing gamers to see how well they have done when the performance of those on their friends list is taken into account.

Players who have used the Games on Demand service to get Halo: Reach now also have the options of launching the game directly from Waypoint if they want to quickly get into a match.

On April 23 the Halo franchise will get entirely new content in the form of a new motion comic called “The Mona Lisa” which will tell a story that takes place immediately after the events players went through in Halo: Combat Evolved.

The comic is created by studios ONE and Pyramid and follows the crew of Red Horse, a UNSC ship which is searching for a Halo artefact but stumbles upon the long lost ship Mona Lisa, which seems to be dead in space.

The crew of Marines that boards the vessel quickly comes face to face with a threat which is more powerful that the Covenant and the motion comic tells their terrifying story.

The new content will be offered on April 23 on Xbox Live, on the web on on Windows Phone 7.

Xbox Live will also get a new selection of Avatar items, including a Flood infection form.
