The Skype developers proudly announced a few hours ago that they reached no less than 10 million simultaneous online users on Skype which makes the VoIP application one of the largest networks on the web. Yesterday, Skype announced
that it has reached an agreement with MySpace in order to promote the software solution among the social network's registered members, a deal that is supposed to bring lots of new customers for Skype. I don't think the new milestone was reached due to the MySpace agreement because it's way too early to talk about the impact of the partnership. However, the Skype officials are pretty proud of their deal with one of the largest social networks.
"Earlier today, Skype announced that it has teamed up with MySpace to create MySpaceIM with Skype, which will add Skype voice calls to the MySpace instant-messaging tool. When we officially welcome MySpace's 110 million monthly users to the Skype family next month, this collaboration will make the combination of MySpace and Skype into the world's largest voice-connected community," they wrote on the official blog of the company.
Skype was first released in 2003 when the developers chose August as the month for the first public beta of the application. In October 2004, the application recorded the first million of users who accessed it at the same time while one year later, the company was bought by the giant eBay.
"A few hours following the MySpace announcement, we surpassed 10 million simultaneous online Skype users. For the first time, like, ever. Just three years ago, on October 20, 2004, we were popping Champagne bottles to mark 1 million simultaneous users. Which we thought was unbelievable. And it was only earlier this year that we passed the 9 million mark."
The latest version of Skype is also available on Softpedia so if you'd like to contribute and to increase the number of the simultaneous users chatting using this application, download it from
