Ten children were hospitalized in Chicago on Tuesday night after a pizzeria allegedly served them alcohol-spiked punch during a birthday party.

The children, all 10 years old and younger, were celebrating a friend's birthday at the Home Run Inn in the Little Village neighborhood, when a waitress mistakenly served alcohol to their table at around 9:30 p.m. Instead of giving the youngsters juice, she gave them some kind of punch, which also included alcohol.

When the wait stuff realized their mistake, they quickly took away the beverages. After a parent tasted alcohol in one of the drinks served to the young diners, the police and ambulances were called.

“The drinks tasted funny to begin with, but we didn’t pay it any attention. We thought it was just us,” parent Neyante Eggleston said.

“They just came and swooped all the cups up, so we like ‘Okay, what’s going on?’ So as they’re swooping cups up, one of the parents of the kids got a whiff of the cup, and it was alcohol.”

The children were reportedly treated by the medics and released from hospital. Doctors say none of them had alcohol in their system.

According to the Huffington Post, police believe it was all just an accident, and no charges will be filed against the waitress who made the mistake.

On the other hand, Daniel Costello of the Home Run Inn Restaurant Group said they "are currently working with staff to conduct an internal investigation to discern the facts of what occurred.”
