Imangi Studios, creators of the highly-acclaimed Temple Run game for iOS and Android, have just announced that the title has recently hit 1 million downloads in both Google Play, formerly known as Android Market, and App Store.

Launched on iOS platform about one year ago, “Temple Run” has been top 10 App since its release. The game now has more than 68 million downloads in the App Store and 32 million in the Google Play store.

Those unfamiliar with Imangi Studios’ title should know that “Temple Run” features a simple game mechanic, which challenges players to test their reflexes.

Players will have to race their way down ancient temple walls and along cliffs to collect coins. You’ll have to jump, run and slide, in order to escape the evil monkeys that dwell in the depths of the temple, while avoiding obstacles at the same time.

We never imagined that the game we were making and loved would be so well received around the world. The last year has been incredible for us, and we are grateful to fans of the game. We hope to be able to provide them with more entertainment from the brand for years to come,” said Keith Shepherd, co-founder of Imangi Studios.

To emphasize its achievement, Imangi Studios has released an infographic that allows us to take a closer look at one year of statistics for “Temple Run.” Check it out here.

100 Million downloads is a significant milestone for any brand in the digital space, and is a reflection of the mass appeal of Temple Run and the deep connection fans have with this unique game,” said John Leonhardt, president of DBG.

In order to celebrate the milestone, Imangi Studios offers all mobile games released prior to “Temple Run” for free for a limited time.

In addition, the iOS version of the game has been updated with retina graphics for the iPad, additional achievements, as well as the possibility to enable or disable specific power-ups.

“Temple Run” is currently available as a free download in the App Store, Google Play and Amazon.
