The device ships with Android 4.1 2 Jelly Bean platform onboard

Australian carrier Telstra and Chinese handset maker ZTE teamed up to launch a new Android smartphone aimed at customers who need durable devices.

The ZTE T83 Dave 4G will soon be available for purchase at Telstra for a price that will be disclosed closer to launch. The T83 Dave 4G is a rugged smartphone that ships with Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box.

The phone is IP67 certified and sports a decent 4-inch capacitive touchscreen display featuring Corning Gorilla Glass coating for extra protection.

As AusDroid points out, the smartphone packs a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, 2.5GB of internal memory, as well as a 5-megapixel main camera on the outside. Bluetooth 3.0 and 4G connectivity, along with Wi-Fi and microSD card slot for memory expansion, are included as well.
