Australia's largest mobile carrier, Telstra, has announced the availability of a new USB modem for its customers. Manufactured by the Richmond-based Canadian company Sierra Wireless, the new product comes under the official name of "Telstra Turbo 7+ USB Series Modem" and it's targeted towards mobile business professionals who need to always stay connected with their customers and partners.

According to Telstra, the new Sierra Wireless product is not only super-fast, but also small and good-looking. Moreover, it brings a microSD expansion slot, a 1GB card and an external antenna that can be used to boost the data transfer speeds.

"Customers can access up-to-date information on the Internet, use email and transfer files quickly and simply with the Turbo 7+ Series USB Modem on Telstra's Next G network – Australia's largest and fastest mobile broadband network," stated Ms. Deena Shiff, group managing director at Telstra Business. "The Turbo 7+ Series USB Modem, rated at 7.2Mbps downlink and 1.9Mbps uplink, was designed to take advantage of the network speeds and will appeal to users who need to connect quickly and work productively while away from the office. Importantly, the device is upgradable to take advantage of faster network upload speeds in coming months."

Dan Schieler, Sierra Wireless' senior vice president of worldwide sales, added, "We are pleased to work with Telstra again to deliver another mobile broadband solution to Telstra customers. With on-board software installation, the ability to store and transfer data, and a small, attractive design, the Turbo 7+ Series USB Modem and Telstra's Next G network empower mobile data customers to make the most of their time and work productively wherever they are."

The retail price of Telstra's new Turbo 7+ Series USB Modem is of 439 AUD (355 USD), but the Australian carrier is also offering it together with various data plans, starting from 149 AUD. The modem can be bought directly from Telstra's Shops and distributors across Australia. Also, users should be able to order it from Telstra's website or by phone, at 1800 BUSINESS.
