Today, Australian wireless carrier Telstra added the Sony Xperia Z1 smartphone to its offering, after having it available on pre-order for the past few weeks.

The smartphone is available for purchase with $9 (€6.3) handset repayment per month on the wireless carrier’s $60 (€42) Every Day Connect Plan, but it can be purchased on other monthly deals as well.

Furthermore, the wireless carrier announced that the new mobile phone was available through its stores at $696 (€490) RRP outright.

Those users who purchase the device until November 15 will also receive a free Sony Bluetooth Stereo Headset, valued at RRP $199.95 (€140.5), as can be seen on this page on the wireless carrier’s website.

Sony Xperia Z1 was made official in early September at IFA 2013 in Berlin, Germany, with a 5-inch full HD touchscreen display and a dust and waterproof design.

The smartphone features a 2.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor inside, complemented by 2GB of RAM. The phone also sports 16GB of internal memory, as well as a microSD memory card slot for expansion purposes.

On the back, the new device has a 20.7-megapixel camera with support for full HD video recording. A front camera was also included, so as to enable users to make video calls while on the go.

“With a 20.7 megapixel camera on board, the Xperia Z1 can deliver crystal clear photos regardless of lighting conditions. You can even take blur free images when your subject is moving,” Telstra explains.

Furthermore, Xperia Z1 features support for the carrier’s 4G LTE network, as well as the usual set of connectivity options and sensors.

“There are some cool added extras as well. You can broadcast video live to Facebook so you and your friends comments pop up on the Xperia’s five inch display in real time. Plus, the Xperia Z1 is waterproof, which means you can capture vivid underwater images using the dedicated touch button,” the carrier continues.

Sony Xperia Z1 is available for purchase at Telstra today in Black and Purple. Users will find it online on the carrier’s website, as well as through its brick and mortar retail locations.
